“The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mikhail Yevdokimov, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” the Ministry told.
“During the meeting, the Azerbaijani side conveyed its serious concern and firm protest over the provocative, insulting, and threatening statements recently made in the media and information space of the Russian Federation against the Azerbaijani state, people, and leadership of the country.
“In particular, attention was drawn to statements made against our country and the leadership of the Republic of Azerbaijan during a program broadcast on August 13, 2026, as part of the “Chistota Ponimaniya” project.
“In addition, the Russian side was reminded of the program broadcast on Sputnik radio on August 7, the absurd claims regarding the inclusion of the Azerbaijani leadership on ‘Russia’s list of terrorists and extremists,’ as well as the provocative statements made again against the Azerbaijani leadership on Spas TV channel on August 16.
“It was emphasized that discussing the possibility of interference in Azerbaijan’s internal political processes and making calls for physical violence against the Azerbaijani people and the country’s leadership are unacceptable.
“It was stated that despite repeated calls by the Azerbaijani side to counter the aforementioned activities and the fact that the issue has been discussed at various political levels, the continuation of similar rhetoric in an increasingly harsh form is a cause for serious concern.
“During the meeting, the Azerbaijani side once again conveyed its expectation that urgent and effective measures would be taken to end provocations, threats, and violent rhetoric against Azerbaijan in the information and media space,” the Ministry said.
